About our Bisque

All our bisque is poured with an American clay based slip, and is fired to cone 04 (1060 degrees). This is compatible (and has a good fit) with all American brands of colour and glaze.

Our bisque has been extensively tested with Gare, Duncan, Mayco, Amaco and other own brand glaze with great results.

We recommend and sell HC0004 Hobby Colorobbia Glaze, which is lead free, quick drying and fires to a fabulous finish.

Check with us on how to get the very best out of this glaze - it's all in the firing!

We recommend glost (glaze) firing to 995-1020 degrees (cone 06).

Our bisque is also used successfully at higher temperatures with UK manufactured glaze but we recommend you test a few pieces if you are firing above cone 06. We'll be happy to supply some trial pieces free of charge. It should not be fired above 1100 degrees.
